Christmas at the beach barefoot

Just returned from doing three book signings and spending Christmas at the beach. Christmas Eve was spent with new friends attending an outside service beside the ocean, under that stars, with 800 people holding candles and singing hymns in Hawaiian.

On Christmas morning I woke up to find people spread out on a blanket with stuffed stockings and wrapped presents.  I said to them, “Do you know how cool this looks?”  I took a picture for them.  Further along the beach, found a three foot high Christmas tree wearing a Santa hat and heard people singing Christmas songs while on their paddle boards.  Later, found Santa, sitting on a beach chair reading his list.  I told him he did a great job.  He told me that the reindeer drive him crazy.  As I walked to a friend’s beachfront home, I realized that I had spent the entire day barefoot.  I gave my friends a fake snowman, which might have been the only one on Maui.

Paddle Boarding in December as an Elf

My friends at SUP East Coast Style donated their paddle boards last Saturday during the annual Marblehead Christmas Walk.  We all dressed up as elves and on one of the first cold mornings this fall, paddle boarded into Marblehead Harbor.  I had my favorite green board, but forgot my rubber wet suit booties so instead did it in a pair of platform boots.  This was a whole new experience, but what a blast.  Seeing the crowd from the water, the sun reflecting off of the empty harbor and just having a great time, once again doing water sports.  Check out the short video:
