Andy Andrews The Noticer

Yesterday while at the beach, finished reading The Noticer by Andy Andrews.  I met Andy at the Maui Writers Conference and read his book, Travellers Gift.  Andy’s books are completely inspirational. His writing has made a difference in my life.  In the book The Noticer the message is so great, just go buy it and give it as gifts.  I hope to send Any a copy of my book.  Thank you Andy for making a difference in my life with your words, that is my dream too.

Hurricane Irene

A very good friend of mine lost her mom, Irene, to cancer recently.  Irene was a great spirit and lived in Florida.  I had a nice chance to go to the annual Christmas Candelight Service at Trinity Church in Boston with Irene and her daughter K. R.  This week, K.R. has been on my mind, whenever traffic upsets me, I think of K.R. and what she is going through.  She sent out a great email that her mother, Irene wasn’t leaving without a good fight.  Hurricane Irene is traveling from Bahamas to Florida and now up the coast.  My heart goes out for my good friend, because every time she turns on the TV, all she hears is her mother’s name.

Great Neighbors moving to Florida

One of the best things about living in a small town is having great neighbors, but on Tuesday, my good friends and great neighbors moved.  They lived across the street from me for seven years.  It took me a few years to get to know them and I’m sorry I took that much time.  Their sons sometimes shoveled my driveway, they would bring me soup and I texted them if something looked strange in the neighborhood.   As I look over to their house, I’m so sad, but also realize how lucky I am not only to know my neighbors, but to be friends with them too.

Trinity Church Boston

I’m proud that I’ve been a pledging member of Trinity Church for 30 years.  Trinity Church, Boston, is considered one of the ten most beautiful buildings in the US.  After attending there for over 30 years, I can say that I still see beautiful details of this amazing structure each time I return.  Sometimes, I’m so moved during the service that I understand how truly blessed I am.  Today was one of those special days.  The flowers, the music, the sermon and the service all made a rainy summer day perfect.  Thank you God.

The Treasure of Summer including Fenway

Today my friend Harriet posted a wonderful Newsletter about The Treasure of Summer and how to have fun by not packing too much into a short period of time.  He post also included a picture of Fenway park and tonight I’m taking my brother to the Red Sox Game.  He’s attended almost 40 opening day games and knows so much about the players it’s like having a private Fenway Guide with me when I’m with him at Fenway.  Happy Summer, go out and get it. http://alwaysharriet.wordpress.com/

Paddle Boarding

I love Paddle Boarding and went yesterday in Marblehead.  I had a board with a pointed nose and it was so much easier to turn.  Last week, I did a 6 or 7 miles paddle board down the Merrimac River.  It was in the afternoon and against the wind, wicked hard, but still fun.  This is my favorite sport and I’m looking forward to doing it the rest of summer, fall and maybe even during the winter.  The ocean temperature has been too cold to swim and I’m bumming out, but hoping to continue doing water sports!
