Nantucket - Figawi Sailboat Race for 27 years

For about 27 years I’ve raced from Hyannis to Nantucket for the annual Figawi Race, which is Spring Break for older adults.  I started wearing a coconut bra and grass skirt each year, perhaps to help the warm winds blow in May.  This year it was warm, but there wasn’t any wind.  I always race with my good friend Brian Cunha and we have lots of laughs from the Hyannis Yacht Club to the tent parties, Lobster Trap (or is it Lobster Pot Restaurant) boat parties and finally this year an excellent widow’s walk deck party overlooking all of beautiful Nantucket Harbor.  We see friends we’ve sailed against for 27 years including Jack Desmond, Bob Chicati (whose name I can’t spell) and all of the other pirates.  After taking a video of the tent party, I finally realized that this weekend is the wildest time all summer.  Thank you B.C. and everyone for kicking off summer with a great weekend - the following has been written by a hungover author who is still smiling.
